Ural Steel – The Story

You know it’s going to be a good weekend when you spend a four hour plane journey talking about tanks with someone just as big of a fan of World of Tanks as you are.
WorldofWar.net was invited to Ural Steel, the biggest World of Tanks e-sports event of the year. Four teams from the three major regions (Russia, Europe and North America), two from China and one from Japan battle it out for the Ural Steel Championship. The prize pool totals $77,000 but these teams play for more than just money, pride for their region and themselves is also at stake.
This article is a long time in the writing and I’ll tell you why. Not only did I lose my voice and feel like a Maus worth of snot was filling my head when I returned from Moscow but I couldn’t decide how I should write the article; from the position of a fan, caster or journalist? I wrote three articles and threw them all out. Too fan like, too serious and not serious enough!
So sod it. Let’s do several.
I’m going to recount my events here as the caster fan that I am here on WorldofWar.net. Over at IncGamers I’ll write a more Journalistic one. Sounds fair? Thought so.
I’ll update this article with the links to the multiple articles and videos you’ll find me releasing over the next few days.
